Altamont, NY: Preparations are already long underway at the Gage Racing shop this offseason. Team co-owner and Car Chief Howard Gage Sr. has been preparing the team’s Teo Pro Car and penciling together plans to build the team’s secondary car, a bold yellow Bicknell Chassis.
While the team continues to sign sponsors for the 2010 season, the 18 year old Gage, in his senior year at Guilderland High School, learned he would receive the RACE 101 Scholarship in early January. While his responsibilities to the RACE 101 Program will take him away from the Northeast a few days each month of the 2010 season, the team still is preparing to take on the famed Fonda Speedway and is working on limited schedule commitments to Glen Ridge Motorsports Part, Utica-Rome Speedway, Accord Raceway, and a few others.
Howard Gage was named NYSSCA’s 2010 Fonda Speedway “Newcomer” (Rookie) of the Year on January 23rd, 2010 for his 1st year’s performance in one of the toughest Modified classes in the country. While finishes could not account for the handful of fantastic runs the underfunded team showcased, the award ment everything to 2009 Interim Crew Chief Mike Jackson.
“Howard worked so hard, and many times it seemed like we could do nothing right… looking back, he did what many rookies failed to do, finish races.” Jackson continued, “There is no substitute for quality track time, next season should set (Howard) up to really break out.”
DENVER, NORTH CAROLINA, January 26, 2010 –Fifteen of North America’s brightest car racing prospects converge on Charlotte, North Carolina, this Friday to be introduced as RACE 101’s inaugural class.
An acronym for Research, Analyze, Consult, Educate, 1 on 1 – RACE 101 is a one-year advanced motorsports education program designed for aspiring race car drivers looking to advance their careers. The inaugural class consists of 15 scholarship winners from across North America.
Altamont, New York, racer Howard Gage was chosen from hundreds of applicants based on his passion for racing and his desire to pursue the mechanical side of the sport as well.
The 18-year-old competes in his family-owned dirt modified at Fonda Speedway. Through a steady progression up the motorsports ranks Gage has won Rookie of the Year honors in each of the last two years in successive divisions.
Gage hopes to use his RACE 101 education to create new opportunities in motorsports while continuing to climb the racing ranks.
Need for “motorsports” based education
RACE 101 was founded by acclaimed crew chief Tony Blanchard. Best known for his work with NASCAR Sprint Cup sensation Joey Logano during his formative stock car racing years Blanchard recognized a need in the racing industry.
“Achieving a career in motorsports requires much more than racing talent,” says Blanchard. “Young racers need to understand the mechanical side of their cars, and they need a solid public relations foundation.
“We’re able to provide an education in their area of need. I’m excited to work with these young racers, and we have some great instructors and mentors involved with the program.”
The press conference introducing the inaugural RACE 101 class will be cybercast from Charlotte, North Carolina, at www.Race101.net on Friday, January 29th, at 11:00 a.m.. For more information, contact Adam Ross at 519-212-8632 or adam@race101.net.

GAGE RACING DEBUTS THE 2010 VERSION OF THE 37H
Rotterdam, New York- It is only a matter of days now before the Capital Region’s first smell of racing fuel! 2009 Fonda Speedway NYSSCA Modified Rookie of the Year Howard Gage unloaded his 37H Teo Pro Car for the first time this season on Thursday night, along with other local teams to push their shinny new rides into the annual season preview show in Rotterdam, NY. Gage Racing joined 53 other teams at the 2010 Fonda Speedway Car Show at the Rotterdam Square mall.
For the second year, Gage unveiled the Team SignACTION “House-Car,” a beautiful red, black, white and silver ride that seemed to be missing something crucial on the real quarters.
With several sponsors returning, Team Gage has focused it’s off-season preparations on their motor program, working with veteran builder Alan Drost. Scott Hamlin’s Snap-On Tools, Auto Cosmetics, John Cuturilo, Mike and Sue Murphy, Images By DC, and Concord Pools all have returned to the sides of the 37H, and they are also welcoming the new sponsors Bisson Excavating and Jake N’ Rake Lawn Care Service.
Missing was Florida based Showtime Cars, the previous major sponsor of the 37H. “The economy is taking its toll on them…” Team Co-Owner Howard Gage said on Friday evening, an ever-present reality that was noticeable on several cars in the show. Gage Racing is currently seeking new marketing partners, and is actively working with a few potential candidates to fill the major sponsor role on their pair of 37H’s.
